Hundreds of tributes have been paid following the passing of one of Lurgan’s leading businessmen.
Jim Greene, who was living in Craigavon, founded J. F. Greene’s furnishing shop in Edward Street almost 50 years ago.
In a Facebook post, Greene’s Furnishings said the shop will be closed for the next few days.
It described him as a “much-respected businessman, employer and first and foremost a devoted father to Fergal, Gerard, Gabriel, Joe and Michael”.
“Jim will be sadly missed by all the staff at Greene’s Furnishings,” it added.
Mr Greene passed away peacefully at Craigavon Area Hospital on Tuesday.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary and loving father of Gerard, Gabriel, Joseph, Fergal and Michael, a dear father-in-law and much loved grandad, and brother of Eileen, Vincent, Eugene, Emmanuel and the late Brian, William and Dermot.
His Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, September 3, in St Anthony’s Church, Craigavon at 12noon with burial afterwards in St Colman’s Cemetery, Clare.
Many tributes were paid online from people who described him as a “brilliant neighbour”, “a good friend”, “a gentleman” and “the loveliest man ever”.
