Two further Covid-related deaths as virus inpatient numbers at Craigavon Hospital drop to just six

There have been two further Covid-related death reported by the Department of Health in Northern Ireland today (Friday).

One of those passed away within the past 24 hours, with the other outside that timeframe, according to the official dashboard.

The ABC Borough accounts for 284 deaths overall. Both Newry, Mourne and Down District and Mid-Ulster accounts for 165 – up one – and 201 of those deaths respectively.

The overall total number of deaths recorded by the Department stands at 2,125.

There were a further 113 – up 15 – positive cases reported in the last 24 hours with eight in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon. There was also a further 20 in Newry, Mourne and Down – the highest in NI – and another six in Mid-Ulster.

A total of 1,895 individuals were tested.

There are 99 people – three less than yesterday – in hospitals across Northern Ireland as a result of the virus, 10 – down two – of whom are in intensive care units.

There are 13 – two less than yesterday – Covid patients in the Southern Trust hospitals, six of whom are in Craigavon Area Hospital.

There are currently 21 ICU beds available in Northern Ireland.

Meanwhile, latest figures published today by NISRA show that 10 deaths involving Covid-19 occurred in the week  March 27 to April 2, the lowest number since the week ending October 9 2020.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths that occurred up to 2nd April 2021 has now reached 2,919. Of the 2,919 Covid-19 related deaths, 1,920 (65.8%) took place in hospital, 770 (26.4%) in care homes, 14 (0.5%) in hospices and 215 (7.4%) at residential addresses or other locations.
