Two County Armagh men accused of robbery and making off with £1,000 in cash and possession of an offensive weapon will face Crown Court proceedings later this year.
Both appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Nathan James O’Hare, 27, of Monbrief Walk in Lurgan, and Conor Charles Seeley, 27, of Charlestown Road in Portadown, are charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
As these charges were read, it was heard that all of the offences are alleged to have occurred on September 30, of last year.
The defendants are accused of robbing a female of £1,000 cash and alcohol. They are further alleged to have been in possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit robbery.
O’Hare is alleged to have been in possession of metal tongs, whilst the charge against Seeley relates to a hurling stick.
Both defendants appeared via videolink, Seeley from his solicitor’s office and O’Hare from Maghaberry, to confirm they had no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence counsels made no contrary submissions.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, released Seeley on continuing bail and remanded O’Hare in custody to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on May 11 for arraignment.
