A woman who is accused of injuring another woman outside a Co Armagh courthouse will have to wait to find out if she will face Crown Court proceedings.
Upon hearing that the 25-year-old allegedly broke the ankle of the injured party, the district judge ordered that Prosecution Service assess the case.
Danielle Donaldson, of Old School Yard, Lisburn appeared charged with causing grievous bodily harm at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Court heard that the alleged offence on March 29, 2017, took place outside of the same Courthouse in which the defendant appeared, with the alleged injured party suffering a broken ankle as a result.
District Judge Bernie Kelly stated: “A broken ankle, in that case, the bone will heal but the damage will remain, so why is this in the Magistrates’ Court?”
She added: “This is aggravated by the fact that this went on within Courthouse premises.”
Prosecution said: “The directing officer made this decision after considering the defendant’s record.”
District Judge Kelly stated: “I am adjourning this case for the directing officer to A, take this to the Crown Court, or B, change the offence to a section 47 (Actual Bodily Harm).”
The case will return on March 1 for prosecution consideration on the case.
