Jonesborough man jailed after caught with cocaine in Crossmaglen house search

Police have welcomed the sentence of sixteen months which was handed to Finbar Stephen Maguire at Newry Crown Court today (Thursday).

The 33-year-old, of Bay View, Jonesborough, pleaded guilty to possession of a class A drug with intent to supply and possession of criminal property at Newry Crown Court on September 15.

Today, he was sentenced to serve eight months in prison and eight months on licence.

Maguire was arrested following an intelligence-led search of a house in Crossmaglen in May 2021, by South Armagh Neighbourhood officers assisted by officers from Tactical Support Group.

A quantity of cocaine and a sum of cash was recovered as a result of the search.

Detective Constable Cunningham said: “We will continue to tackle the supply, use and harm caused by illegal drugs. The support of local people is essential in helping us to remove dangerous drugs from our streets and put those who seek to profit from them in prison.
