An award-winning fish and chip shop in Dungannon, established more than 30 years ago, has gone on the market.
The Dolphin, based on George’s Street since 2005 – and before that on the Donaghmore Road since its establishment in 1989 – is looking like-minded individuals to “take on the challenge of continuing the success of this business”.
The business, which is owned and run by Malachy Mallon, celebrates 34 years next week and has represented Northern Ireland in the National Fish & Chip Awards on several occasions.
To say it’s a Dungannon institution would be an understatement.
Malachy and his team have been heavily involved in the community over the years, through volunteer and charity work.
In 2018, Malachy was part of a crew who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and in the process became the first ever person to fry fish and chips on Africa’s summit. That feat earned them the record for the World’s Highest Pop-Up Chippy, raising £20,000 for The Fishermen’s Mission in the process.
However, it’s now time for Malachy to hand over the chip shovel and CPS Property are the agents responsible for finding a new buyer.
Their brochure reads: “CPS are delighted to have been appointed to list for sale due to retirement this award winning and well-established Fish & Chip Shop business; that has been in business over the last 34 Years.”
They said the chip shop “offers a fantastic opportunity for a like-minded individual(s) within the industry or someone looking to enter the industry to take on the challenge of continuing the success of this business.”
