Dungannon Court

A Dungannon man found to be over the drink driving limit at the scene of a two car collision near a Coalisland roundabout has been disqualified from driving for a year.

Martin McCurry – with an address on Coalisland Road – appeared before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court pleading guilty to a single charge of drink driving.

The 52-year-old was accompanied by his wife as the court heard from his defence counsel that he had been driving for 25 years “without penalty points”.

The prosecution, outlining the facts of the case, said that at approximately 1.40pm on May 23, 2026 police were tasked to a report of a two car collision on the roundabout on Ballynakilly Road, Coalisland.

One of the cars involved was a red Toyota van which was being driven by the defendant.

Upon arrival, police observed the vehicles close to the roundabout and spoke to the drivers of both cars.

In speaking to McCurry they noticed a smell of intoxicating liquor coming from his breath.

A preliminary breath test was carried out at the roadside, which returned a fail result.

McCurry was arrested and taken to Lurgan custody suite where he provided a lower evidential reading of 63 micrograms of alcohol per 100mls of breath.

District Judge Rafferty ordered McCurry be disqualified from driving for 12 months and issued a fine of £200 and an offenders levy of £15.

He was granted 10 weeks to pay.
