Killyman Post Office to close in February in blow to rural village

A date has been set for the closure of the Post Office in the rural Co. Tyrone village of Killyman.

Due to the resignation of the postmaster, and the “withdrawal of the premises for Post Office Use”, the branch will be closed on Wednesday, February 19, at 5.30pm.

In a letter addressed to customers, Janese Sung, the Post Office Area Change Manager said there are no plans to replace the Killyman Post Office following a “comprehensive review of the network to ensure that it continues to meet evolving customer needs”.

The withdrawal of Post Office services will undoubtedly cause difficulties for some in the rural community, with the nearest Post Offices being Moygashel Post Office and Ranfurly Post Office in Dungannon.

Both of these facilities are approximately 2.5 miles from Killyman.
