A prominent worldwide courier service have promised to increase their resources in the Mid Ulster Council area to help tackle delays on the run up to the busiest delivery season of the year.
In the last number of weeks Independent Republican Socialist Councillor for the Torrent DEA, Dan Kerr said he has received numerous complaints from residents in the area who say they have have not received parcels or have had parcels delayed by Evri.
Evri’s company website says they provide “cheap and convenient parcel delivery services”, using a network of over “18,000 friendly parcel couriers”… yet many residents say they are being left empty handed far longer than expected.
It also states that the company deliver “over 700 million packages a year to over 220 countries and territories worldwide”.
In response to the mounting complaints, the councillor passed over all queries to the courier and now says he has received a response from the company who has revealed that they are experiencing “operational issues” in the area.
Further to this, the councillor said a “senior member” of Evri contacted him to advise they will “deploy more resources to try and tackle the delays in the Mid Ulster area”.
However, the Cllr Kerr remains unsure that the situation will improve locally and has encouraged those effected to keep contacting him directly with details.
One person left a comment under the councillor’s most recent Facebook update on the situation to say that they had nine parcels with Evri at minute which “have been there for ages”, another said that “one out of every three” of their parcels either “go missing or arrive damaged”.
Those awaiting deliveries in time for Christmas are understandably rather anxious.
When contacted for comment by Armagh I, Evri confirmed that some “teething problems” at their new site – a £1.3 million Mallusk branch which opened in September 2025 – has resulted in delays.
A spokesperson for Evri said: “We’re on track to deliver over 900 million parcels this year with the vast majority being delivered successfully on time.
“Customer satisfaction is at the heart of what we do and we’re very sorry that some teething problems at our new site have slowed a small number of deliveries.
“The local team are working hard to deliver all outstanding parcels by the end of the week.”
