A series of drop-in public meetings are being held to help shape a ‘Vision Plan’ for the historic village of Caledon.
In June, Mid Ulster District Council Chair, Councillor Frances Burton appealed to Council and partner organisations to fast-track planned improvements in the rural Co Tyrone village, two-and-a-half years on from the publication of a village plan detailing what is being envisaged for the locality.
Works to improve and develop the village plan is being led by the Prince’s Trust in conjunction with Cookstown and Western Shores Area Network (CWSAN), and while progress on this has been slow to date, the village’s Regeneration Partnership is now moving forward with public consultations.
Caledon Regeneration Partnership (CRP) – working with Venture International Ltd and CWSAN – hopes that public consultation will build on previous consultation processes and better position Caledon for any potential forthcoming opportunities.
A poster promoting the community meetings explains: “An effective Vision Plan works best when all the interests in the community are brought together to work on common goals and a planned vision… in this case for Caledon.”
The process started with a drop-in planning session on September 24 and a second drop-in meeting is now to be held on September 30, from 2pm to 6pm.
This is followed by an open facilitated planning session from 7pm to 8.30pm.
The meetings on September 30 will both be held at The Court House, Caledon.
A digital survey has also been launched by CRP to find out more from residents in the locality as to how Caledon can best be developed as a “sustainable rural settlement” and enhance residents’ quality of life.
All responses to the survey are given in confidence and can be made by clicking here.
