A County Armagh farmer has been convicted of a number of charges and given a suspended prison sentence at Armagh Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
Robert McKeown was convicted of a charge, failing to notify the movement of an animal off his holding, and a charge of failure to dispose of an animal carcase.
He was also convicted of a charge of failure to keep a herd register and a further charge of failing to present animals for a tuberculosis test.
The defendant, from Cloveneden Road, Loughgall, was given a two month jail sentence, which was suspended for two years. He was also fined £150, plus £55 costs and a £15 offenders’ levy.
McKeown had previously been convicted of these offences.
This case arose from a number of discrepancies found at a cattle identification inspection carried out by Veterinary Service Enforcement Branch (VSEB).
