A brand new fitness gym at a GAA ground on the Armagh-Tyrone border has been gutted in a suspected arson attack.
The Tír na nÓg GAC building in Moy, which includes club changing rooms, was destroyed after the fire at the premises around 10pm last night.
One eyewitness told Armagh I that there were two people acting suspiciously in the area before speeding off following the blaze.
It is understood that a window in the property was smashed before petrol was poured through.
Gym owner Connell Donnelly wrote on Facebook: “It is with deep regret and sadness that I should announce that our newly open gym in Moy village was attacked and destroyed in what appears to be a sectarian arson attack last night.
“We are still unsure what happened and why it happened but it’s not just an attack on me it’s an attack on the whole community.
“Thanks to everyone who helped last night and thanks for all your kind messages of support, unfortunately there are people who still do things like this, but all they have done is took a small community and made it even stronger.”
New fitness gym in Moy has been totally destroyed by a fire tonight! SDLP Cllr Denise Mullen been on scene since 10pm. PSNI also there.
