Former Danske bank in Markethill bought by family business

Dalzell’s of Markethill have bought the former Danske Bank in Markethill.
Today, the family-run business, officially announced the move on their Facebook page.
They said: “We are currently exploring a number of options for the site and adjacent land. In the immediate future the bank’s car park will be used by staff to alleviate parking in the town.”
The bank, formerly known as Northern Bank, closed in June along with one in Keady.

The Ulster Unionist Party’s Newry & Armagh MLA Danny Kennedy speaking at the time expressed his disappointment at the news and fears it could be damaging to the area.

“The closure of the Northern Bank’s Markethill sub-office would have a very profound and serious impact on the town and the local business community,” he said.

Today’s announcement however, is some good news for the town.
