A yellow warning for ice is in place for Northern Ireland overnight.
The alert, issued by the Met Office, comes into effect at 9pm tonight, Thursday, and will last right through to 9am on Friday.
With temperatures expected to dip below zero, forecasters are warning motorists to watch out for ice on roads right across the region.
A statement explained: “Showers this afternoon have left the roads wet in many parts of Northern Ireland as well as southern and western parts of Scotland.
“As skies clear tonight there is the risk of ice forming, especially on untreated surfaces. The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport due to the slippery roads.
“With little time for road surfaces to dry out, ice will form as road temperatures dip below zero this evening under clearing skies leading to some slippery road surfaces and pavements.”
