Rising country music star and winner of this year’s TG4 Glór Tíre, Paddy Treacy – also known as ‘Banjo Paddy’ – will make his long-awaited Armagh debut at a special charity fundraiser in The Rock Bar, Granemore, this coming Friday, September 12.
The fundraiser is being held in memory of seven-year-old Lauren Lappin from Granemore, who sadly lost her battle with cancer last December.
The popular Fermanagh native has gone from strength to strength since launching his solo career last year.
Formerly the banjo player with the Paul Kelly Band, Paddy has already enjoyed major success with hits including Charlie’s Bar, The Legend Joe Mahon and The Long Way Home.
His growing fanbase spans the country, with huge followings on social media and appearances at leading festivals and events nationwide.
Looking ahead to his first performance in county Armagh, Paddy said: “I’m really looking forward to playing my first gig in Armagh since starting out as a solo artist. 2025 has already been a massive year for me, especially with winning the Glór Tíre title back in April. It’s fantastic to see Irish country music thriving, and I’m especially grateful for the support from a younger generation of jivers.”
The night will also feature performances from the popular Danny Byrne Band, Leroy Owens and Liam Lappin, with all proceeds going to the RVH Children’s Cancer Unit.
Music begins at 9pm and organisers are encouraging early attendance for what promises to be a very special night of country music in aid of a worthy cause.
