Tens of thousands of homes in the borough could shortly see changes to their bin collections.
This could mean a different collection day – or the start of a food waste collection service for those not yet included. The changes will affect residents living in the west of the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area.
A new food waste collection service must be provided to all homes under recently introduced regulations.
In terms of the ABC Council area, this means adding some 2,000 households for this service.
Fortunately, a grant of close to £130,000 has been awarded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
But, that said, it will of course have spin-off effects for other residents.
These details are due to be outlined shortly in a number of ways.
During the last week of the month, a letter will be sent to close to 25,000 local homes advising of the “potential changes”.
These changes will also shortly be appearing on the council’s own website.
By the middle of next month, all households – regardless of whether they will experience any change – will receive a six month calendar, which will also outline holiday arrangements.
Posters will also be distributed across Armagh City and at towns and villages too, with GP surgeries, dental practices, libraries, takeaways, hairdressers, shops and other locations targeted to help get the word out.
