St Michael’s Primary School in Clady celebrate county title and third place in the Cumann na mBunscol Ulster Finals.
Today was a fantastic day in the history of St Michael’s Primary as the P6 and 7 girls set off as county champions representing Co Armagh in the Cumann na Mbunscol Ulster Final held in The Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt.
They enjoyed a rousing send off and headed on their journey filled with hope, excitement and determination.
When they arrived at Magherafelt they were split into two groups to play in the round-robin competition.
After victories over Donegal and Down and a defeat to Antrim, the girls qualified for the semi-final against Tyrone.
Despite a spirited performance, the girls unfortunately lost to a very skilful and competent team from St John’s Primary School, Ballgawley who continued on to become the Ulster Champions.
We are so proud of this great team of girls for representing their school, community and clubs with great distinction.
The team captain said: “We are small in numbers but it is the quality that counts, not the quantity!”
They certainly proved this today by achieving third place in the Ulster Finals.
They truly deserved the eruptious welcome they got when they arrived home again.
