A Co Armagh community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a little 7-year-old girl earlier today (Saturday).
Lauren Lappin, from Armaghbreague, passed away following a brave battle with cancer.
Lauren – a beloved, and beautiful, daughter to Shane and Aideen, as well as a loving sister to Ava-Louise.
A profound sense of sadness has overcome the Granemore – and wider – community at the news.
And all codes of Granemore GAA led tributes to a little girl many took to their hearts as she fought hard against illness.
“The committee and members of Granemore GFC are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lauren Lappin,” the football club wrote.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Lauren’s parents, Shane and Aideen and her sister Ava-Louise. Our thoughts are also with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her many friends. Our prayers are with the Lappin and McMahon families during this difficult time. May Lauren’s gentle soul rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.”
The Camogie club added: “Our Camogie club is heart broken to learn of the death of Lauren, wee sister of our underage camog Ava-Louise. We send of deepest heart felt condolences to Lauren’s mummy Aideen, daddy Shane and big sister Ava-Louise, her grandparents and the entire Lappin and McMahon families at this extremely difficult time.
Saint Gerard Majella pray for Lauren. Mary Queen of the Gael pray for Lauren and her family. RIP Lauren.”
Granemore Ladies posted: “We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Lauren Lappin, younger sister of our U13 player and U13 PDP Representative Ava Louise. Lauren you are a beautiful angel now wrapped up in the arms of Jesus. Our thoughts and prayers today and over the next few weeks and months ahead are very much with her daddy Shane, mummy Aideen and sister Ava Louise and her extended family and friends.
“God bless you Lauren, you are now at peace. Mary Queen of the Gael Pray for Her. May God Have Mercy on her Soul. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.”
Lauren’s primary school, St Mary’s Granemore, wrote: “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of little Lauren, a much-loved pupil of our school. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aideen, Shane, Ava-Louise, Pauline, and the entire Lappin and McMahon families during this incredibly difficult time. Lauren brought so much joy to our school community, and she will always hold a special place in our hearts. The entire staff and school community send their heartfelt sympathy and prayers to her family at this heartbreaking time. May Lauren’s sweet and gentle soul rest in peace.”
Hundreds of messages of condolences and tributes were paid to Lauren and her family.
One member of the local school described Lauren as “a cherished pupil”.
Adding: “Lauren will always be remembered for the joy she brought to those around her, and her memory will remain in our hearts. May Lauren’s sweet soul rest in peace.”
Comhaltas Ard Mhacha – Armagh CCÉ, posted: “It is with profound sadness that we learn of the passing of Lauren Lappin.
“Lauren was the loving sister of Ava-Louise and cousin of Ross Lappin, both dedicated members of our Orchard County Grúpa Cheoil. We extend our sincere condolences to Laurens parents, Aideen and Shane, sister Ava-Louise and extended family at this extremely difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
A funeral notice have asked that the house remain strictly private.
