A resident of Keady has voiced safety concerns after a number of properties are said to have been vandalised.
It is understood that in the last two months, two properties in the St Matthew’s estate have been the target of offensive graffiti.
The first was allegedly vandalised in September with the second marked just last week (October 10).
Speaking to Armagh I, one resident showed a video of the damage to both properties and said he was just “waiting for the windows to be put through” next.
Daubed in black spray paint, both the tags insinuate drug-related behaviour of individuals within the locality, however, the resident we spoke to said “there’s no problem with drugs in the area, to my mind.”
The first incident bore the abbreviation ‘DAAD’ which is formerly synonymous with Northern Ireland-based vigilante group, Direct Action Against Drugs that claimed responsibility for the killing of a number of alleged drug dealers.
He added: “The homes in the area are mostly occupied by pensioners. I just don’t want to see this happening where I live. It’s only a matter of time before the windows are put through next.”
The graffiti has since been removed – or partially removed – on both properties.
Police in Armagh confirmed they had received a report shortly before 3pm on Friday October 10, of criminal damage in the St. Matthew’s Estate area of Keady.
Enquiries are on-going at this time.
