A woman who called a female police officer a “f***ing b****” before being found in possession of cannabis and Ecstasy has been ordered to pay a fine of £950.
The 19-year-old’s barrister told court: “This is another individual before the court, whose life has been blighted by the taking of drugs and who has found herself in the company of other individuals who are also indulging in drugs.”
Viktorija Salausaite, of Granemore Park in Keady, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour, possession of Class B and possession of Class A drugs at Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry, on Tuesday.
Prosecution outlined that on October 16, at 10.18pm, police near McGleenan’s Centra, Keady, stopped a Volkswagen Golf for a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
There was a smell of cannabis emanating from the vehicle and this defendant, a front seat passenger, attempted to obstruct the search by officers.
Salausaite swung her backpack, which contained a glass bottle, at police and was subsequently arrested.
Throughout, the defendant was verbally abuse towards police, calling one officer a “f***ing b****” and telling others “go f*** yourself”.
During the search, officers located an aluminium ziplock containing three suspected Class A pink tablets, with a pink grinder containing 1.3g of cannabis also being seized.
When interviewed, Salausaite confirmed the tablets to be Ecstasy and that the cannabis had also been in her possession.
Defence barrister Seamus Lannon stated that female was on a “dangerous route”.
“This is another individual before the court, whose life has been blighted by the taking of drugs and who has found herself in the company of other individuals who are also indulging in drugs,” said Mr Lannon.
District Judge Bernie Kelly ordered Salausaite to pay a fine of £950, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
