A Loughgall man caught driving whilst disqualified because “an opportunity had presented itself”, a court has heard.
The 45-year-old, of Ballynick Road, appeared at Armagh Magistrates’ charged with driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and with no vehicle test certificate.
Police stopped him shortly before 3pm on June 29 on the Newry Road after his white Transit van was flagged as having no insurance.
Once stopped it was also found that there was no MOT on the vehicle and the defendant did not have a valid licence.
He immediately accepted wrongdoing to police.
Defence counsel explained that their client had been “in and out of employment and on this date an opportunity had presented itself to him”.
Court heard that the defendant had been banned from driving for six months on another occasion on May 25, last year.
District Judge Paul Copeland banned him from driving for a further six months, sentenced him to 100 hours community service and ordered him to pay a fine of £200 within eight weeks, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
