A community is rallying behind a Co Armagh family after a fire devastated their home late last night.

The blaze destroyed the property in Lurgan, but fortunately, the family – including seven children – are safe and well.

However, friends have taken to social media in a desperate attempt to donate items to the family, especially the children.

Angie Thornbury has taken to Facebook saying her friend is “is living a nightmare at the moment”.

“Her house went on fire last night and she is left with nothing,” Angie explained.

“She has seven kids, yes seven!

“And thanks be to God she got them all got out safely in time. But the only thing they have right now is the pyjamas they were wearing.”

She added: “As I’m sure you know, as I do, having to clothe one or two kids is hard going, never mind seven. And starting from scratch. All new uniforms new shoes the lot are gone.

So please if any of you can help and have any spare clothes, shoes etc, this will be greatly appreciated.”

Her kids ages are: Boy 14; Girl 13; Boy 10; Girl 8; Boy 6; Girl 5; and Girl 3.

You can private message Angie here if you can help.

Meanwhile, Brownlow Integrated College posted: “We are sending out an appeal for any items that could be donated to the family, specifically clothing and uniforms. There are seven kids. The oldest two just started with us last week and the younger ones attend Dickson Primary.

“If you have any items please leave at the front office for the attention of Mr Gordon and we will make sure they get to the family.

“When one suffers, we all suffer. Let’s get behind the latest members of the Brownlow family and show them that we are all thinking of them and that they aren’t in this alone.”
