An Armagh man with “significant underlying issues” has been conditionally discharged for 12 months despite Class B detection.
Sentencing the 23-year-old, the deputy district judge commented: “Normally in cases like this I would be giving a fine but the fact is he has enough on his plate.”
Patrick Pearse Killen, of Corrigans Court, pleaded guilty to possession of Class B at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Prosecution outlined that at 10pm on September 13, of 2019, police received a report regarding two males at an address on Russell Drive, Lurgan.
During a search of the property, officers located a quantity of suspected cannabis resin before taking the two males, one of which was this defendant, to Craigavon Area Hospital for medical attention.
Killen later engaged in a voluntary interview, during which he made admission to ownership of the 6-g of the susbstance.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes stated: “He has significant underlying issues which are now being addressed. Normally in cases like this I would be giving a fine but the fact is he has enough on his plate.”
Killen was handed a conditional discharge for a period of 12 months.
