Five people charged in connection with the murder of Lurgan man Odhrán Kelly will face Crown Court proceedings.
On December 3, last year, the beaten and burned body of Odhrán – a 23-year-old nursing student – was discovered near a burning car on Edward Street in Lurgan.
Shane Harte (32), Gary Scullion (32), Andrea Stevenson (43), Stephanie McClelland (36) and Crystal Redden (30) are each charged with offences in relation to the murder.
They appeared before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Harte, Scullion and Stevenson are all charged with murder, while McClelland is charged with assisting offenders in the removal of a body.
Redden is charged with perverting the course of justice by making a false statement.
The prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, adjourned the case to appear at Belfast Crown Court on a date still to be fixed.
Harte, Scullion and McClelland were remanded into custody, while Stevenson and Redden were freed on continuing bail.
