A Lurgan man accused of a range of drugs offences including possession of cocaine with intent to supply is to face the Crown Court.
Karl Boyce, of Toberhewny Lodge, appeared before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE) – the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
The 31-year-old appeared via video-link from his solicitor’s office, charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, three counts of possession of Class A controlled drugs, possession of a Class C controlled drug, possession of a Class B controlled drug and offering to supply a Class A controlled drug.
The offences- which are alleged to have occurred on May 29 and October 1, 2021 – involve drugs including cocaine, LSD, etizolam and cannabis.
The defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Pat Vernon, defending, made no contrary submissions.
When asked if he wished to say anything in answer to the charges, Boyce replied: “no.”
District Judge Bernie Kelly, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, released the defendant on his own bail of £500, to appear at Craigavon Crown Court for pre-arraignment on November 15 and for arraignment on December 6.
Further conditions of bail included remaining under curfew during specific hours and not to be in possession of a device capable of accessing the internet
