A Lurgan man accused of a litany of drugs offences dating back to 2018 will face Crown Court proceedings in the New Year.
The 41-year-old appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Dean Robert Currie, of Russell Drive, is charged with possession of Class B, offering to supply Class A, being concerned in the offer to supply Class B and two counts of being concerned in the offer to supply Class C.
As the charges were read, it was heard that on a date between January 1 and November 29 of 2018, the defendant was alleged to have been concerned in the making to another of an offer to supply cannabis, pregabalin and diazepam.
On November 27, of the same year, Currie is accused of supplying Ecstasy to another and the following day is alleged to have had cannabis in his possession.
Appearing in court, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence barrister Aaron Thompson made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Bernie Kelly, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, released the defendant on continuing bail to appear at Craigavon Crown Court on February 15.
