A Lurgan man has received a one month prison sentence for a fight at a house party which spilled out onto the street.
Defence solicitor Pat Vernon told court that the 27-year-old was “so intoxicated that he cannot remember what happened”.
Michael Redmond Doran, of Wellington Street, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday, via videolink from Magilligan.
It was heard that on April 5, at 4.10pm, police received a report of an assault involving a number of males on North Street in Lurgan.
When officers arrived they were told by a member of the public that those involved had went into an address on North Street.
Police spoke to the defendant at the address who could no give a coherent account of what had happened.
CCTV was viewed which showed Doran pulling an unknown male out of the address in North Street and throwing him to the ground before dragging him back into the property.
Defence solicitor Pat Vernon stated: “This was a house party at a property in North Street; all parties there were intoxicated and a dispute arose between a number of persons.
“This spilled out into the street, there was no complaint from the injured party and there were no injuries reported.”
He added: “Mr Doran was so intoxicated that he cannot remember what happened.”
Deputy District Judge Gerry Trainor said: “This is your fifth conviction for disorderly behaviour; it seems to be a regular occurrence.
“You have been not deemed as suitable for a community based disposal but I will take into account your early plea.”
Doran was sentenced to one month in prison.
