Three arrested after £29,000 drug seizure during Lurgan police operation

A major police operation in Lurgan on Thursday has led to the seizure of more than £29,000 worth of drugs, along with cash and drug-related equipment, following a targeted search by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Officers carried out the planned search at a property in the Lurgan area on Thursday afternoon, recovering the drugs haul as well as drug paraphernalia and approximately £7,000 in cash.

Three individuals were arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences and possession of criminal property.

Police said the success of the operation was made possible thanks to intelligence from the local community and stressed that drugs are continuing to cause significant harm across the area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Drugs don’t just harm the individuals who use them — they tear at the fabric of our community. They fuel addiction, increase vulnerability, drive antisocial behaviour, and bring fear and exploitation to our streets. Every seizure helps disrupt this cycle and protects the most vulnerable.

“Today’s success would not have been possible without the vital information provided by members of the public. Your vigilance and willingness to speak up make a real difference.

“If you have concerns or information about drugs or criminal activity in your area, please continue to report it. Together, we can keep Lurgan safe.”

The operation has also been welcomed by Sinn Féin councillor Sorchá McGeown, who said the removal of the drugs was a positive step for the community.

“This is a welcome seizure, removing unwanted, harmful drugs from our streets,” she said.

“Drugs and the criminality linked to them are a blight on all our communities, causing untold devastation and destroying countless lives.

“Anyone with information on the supply of illegal drugs should report it immediately.”
