A 22-year-old woman has been told she should watch the footage of her “extremely drunken state” at a Co. Armagh train station so it would “implant the memory in her head”.
Alana Toner, 22, of Elimgrove Street in Belfast, pleaded guilty at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to disorderly behaviour, resisting police and assault of a constable at Lurgan train station.
Court heard that body-worn police footage existed of the incident which took place on May 16, prompting District Judge Bernie Kelly to say “we should all be able to see her in her extremely drunken state”.
Defence counsel told the judge that Toner was ashamed of her actions and showed remorse from the moment he first spoke to her in custody, the day after the offence.
Judge Kelly commented “she does not remember the event”, adding “she should watch the footage to implant the memory in her head”.
She added that the defendant had “an atrocious record,” much of which was “alcohol-fuelled”.
The case will return on July 11 to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared, with Judge Kelly stating that the body-cam footage is made available for then.
