Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy has announced a further major investment of £400,000 in the roads network in Armagh City.
Resurfacing work and improvements are planned to take place on College Hill and Portadown Road Armagh from the end of June after the completion of similar works at Friary Road. The work is planned to coincide with school holidays and is scheduled for completion by the end of August.
The Minister said: “This is a further significant investment which will help improve the structural condition of the main arterial route from the East of Armagh City.
“I would ask the public for their patience during these works as delays can be expected and should be planned for.”
Preparatory work is due to commence on the footways at College Hill and on the Portadown Road on the 30 June. It will be necessary to have lane and road closures at times for the safety of the public and of site workers.
All closures will be well signposted. Whilst these improvement works are being carried out road users are advised to obey the road and lane closures and the direction signs and to cooperate with site personnel in the interests of safety.
During periods of road and lane closures access will only be available to local residents and to businesses and public buildings within the length of the closures. It should be appreciated that some delays can be expected and should be planned for.
