A man who tried to make off without paying a taxi was later arrested and found to have drugs on his person in south Armagh.
Another man was also arrested following a search property in Orior Park, Bessbrook.
Constable Sean Bell explained: “On Friday night, January 30, we received a report of an intoxicated male refusing to a pay a taxi fare in Bessbrook.
“We attended and spoke to the male who was subsequently searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. A quantity of suspected class A and B drugs were seized and the 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of Class A and B drugs and making off without payment.
“We conducted a further search of a property in Orior Park, Bessbrook, and recovered a quantity of suspected cannabis and suspected Diazepam tablets. A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.”
Both men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Constable Bell added: “We are aware of local concerns around drug misuse in the area and we are proactively patrolling in order to detect and apprehend any offenders.
