Police have confirmed that there were no injuries during an early morning blaze at a Markethill-based care facility.
Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the former Hebron House premises on Main Street shortly after 3.30am on Friday (February 27).
Firefighters were called to reports of the ground floor of the private property and wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
They left the scene at 4.45am and confirmed that the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
Earlier this week concerns were raised with Armagh I after a recruitment notice appeared in the window of the former Hebron House premises which is now under the ownership of controversial healthcare and recruitment company, Good People.
Police have now confirmed they too are investigating the blaze and add, thankfully, that no one was injured.
Inspector Jennings said: “We received a report of the fire in the Main Street area of the town just before 4am this morning, Friday 27th February.
“Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
“Damage was caused to the bottom floor front room – as well as a window – with no other areas of the property affected.
“No one was inside the building at the time, and we’re thankful no injuries were reported. The fire is being treated as deliberate, with enquiries ongoing.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious activity, or has information or video footage which may help with our enquiries, to get in touch with us by calling 101 quoting reference number 132 27/02/26.”
