There is light at the end of a long tunnel for a county Armagh village after plans for a new play state-of-the-art play area were finally granted.
The Poyntzpass facility will be a dual use scheme development, similar to that already operating in other local towns and villages.
It will be located on lands at Poyntzpass Primary School on the Tandragee Road.
After a lengthy delay, plans were finally submitted in February 2016 – 18 months ago on
This week, planners at Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council gave the project a huge thumbs up.
The play area will cover an area of approximately 280m² and will comprise 15 pieces of play equipment.
This includes toddler and junior climbing frames, slides and swings.
Councillor Sharon Haughey-Grimley had long campaigned for the development has said she is “absolutely delighted that planning permission has finally been granted”.
“This has been in the pipeline for years and I am delighted that all outstanding issues have now been resolved.
“Next step will be to appoint a contractor and myself and councillor Seamus Doyle will keep the pressure on to get this play park delivered for the children of Poyntzpass and surrounding areas as soon as possible.”
