A Newry and Armagh MLA is to meet with senior BT officials shortly to discuss ongoing broadband issues – and he wants people to report to his office problems they are experiencing.
While extensive work has been carried out to ensure adequate access to broadband in rural areas there is still a lot more work to be done to address this issue, according to SF Assemblyman Cathal Boylan.
“We have compiled a list of postcodes that DARD funding has enabled through the Broadband Improvement Project, however, just because a street has been enabled, it is no guarantee that every address on the street has been enabled,” he explained.
“There are many areas throughout rural Armagh that have seen no improvement to their broadband access. I will be raising this matter with senior BT officials.”
“We must ensure all rural areas have a broadband service that is fit for purpose and at present areas such Derrynoose, Tullysaran, Clady and Middletown do not have adequate access.
“I will continue to fight for rural business, schools and homes that are at a significant disadvantage through lack of broadband coverage.”
Mr Boylan is urging those who live in broadband ‘not-spots’ to get in touch with his office on 3751 1797, in order that he can raise it with the BT officials.
