A Bistro in Newry have been commended for their “exemplary” generosity following a fatal road collision on Sunday.
A 66-year-old motorcyclist died following the two-vehicle collision on the Warrenpoint Road in Newry.
He had collided with a Landrover Discovery which was towing a caravan shortly before 12.30pm.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the weekend’s incident.
A police spokesperson said: “We would also like to highlight the exemplary community spirit, patience, support and generosity of the local businesses, in particular Roots Bistro, who supplied complimentary meals and refreshments to those involved and affected.
“This type of gesture means so much to folk in such difficult times, and while we extend our thanks to the ambulance service for their excellent work as well, it was particularly heart warming to see the community pulling together and supporting each other in a time of loss and grieving.”
