A Newry-based nursing home recently scooped a plethora of awards at competition – a fine endorsement of its staff.
And Newry, Mourne & Down Council Chairperson Roisin Mulgrew, accompanied by Megan Fearon MLA and Mickey Brady MP, made a visit to Glencarron Nursing Home on Friday to personally congratulate all honoured in the Staff Nursing Awards.
Congratulating those nominated and recognised in several competitive and prestigious awards categories, Councillor Mulgrew said: “The tireless efforts of staff and management have rightfully been recognised in their unceasing work in making Glencarron a first-class nursing home our community can be proud of.
“To be recognised in this manner is a great honour for the local area, and residents and patients here have the staff to thank for this.”
Mr Brady MP echoed her congratulatory sentiments, while stressing the importance of social care in our community.
“At a time when our society is suffering from continued public sector cuts, especially deep in our health service, it is inspiring to see staff confront these challenges with good nature and work ethic to provide the highest-quality clinical care and expertise to our elderly population,” he said.
“I wish staff at Glencarron all the best in future, and offer them a warm gratitude on behalf of the people of Newry and Armagh”
