A Cool FM radio presenter has thanked the “heroes” of Mourne Mountain Rescue Team after they help recover one of his hiking team following a bad fall over the weekend.
Four people were rescued and treated for hypothermia on Slieve Donard on Saturday – among them was the popular radio presenter Paulo Ross.
They were out trekking on the mountain when one of the party of four had taken a bad fall while descending from the summit.
An MMRT spokesperson said: “The casualty was assessed and treated for suspected spinal and pelvic injuries along with mild hypothermia. The other members of the party were treated for mild hypothermia.
“Due to the location and potential severity of the casualties injuries, we requested helicopter assistance with the evacuation.”
The breakfast show presenter tweeted: “In challenging conditions, you did a great job.
“Heroes. Keep up the great work and keep saving lives.”
