A Newry man who is accused of assaulting a female and disclosing private sexual photos of her has appeared in court.
The 52-year-old is also alleged to have pursued a course of conduct which amounted to harassment in relation to the same woman.
David Patrick McVeigh, appeared charged with disclosing private sexual photographs, common assault, harassment, and threats to damage property at Armagh Magistrates’, sitting at Newry, on Tuesday.
As the charges were read, it was heard that on November 6, the defendant is alleged to have unlawfully assaulted the named female.
On November 9, McVeigh is also accused of disclosing a private sexual photograph or film of a named individual without her consent and with the intention of causing her distress.
The defendant is also alleged to have pursued a course of conduct which amounted to harassment in relation to the same woman, also on November 9.
He is further accused of making a threat to damage property, namely a door, belonging to the same alleged injured party between November 6 and November 9.
Appearing via videolink from police custody, McVeigh confirmed that he understood the charges and was connected to these by a constable.
Defence solicitor John Murphy made no questions to this connection and informed the court that bail had been agreed, subject to an address which was deemed suitable to police.
District Judge Greg McCourt granted McVeigh his own bail of £500 to an address approved by police. Conditions included that he is not to contact the alleged injured party and is to have no access to social media.
The case was adjourned to Newry Magistrates’ Court, sitting on December 2, for an update.
