A Ballymartin accused of causing grievous bodily harm and robbery will face Crown Court proceedings this November.
The 35-year-old is also alleged to have attempted to damage gates and doors belonging to the Kilmorey Arms Hotel in Kilkeel.
Gary Chambers, of Sabbath Hill, appeared charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery, threats to kill and attempted criminal damage at Newry Magistrates’ on Wednesday.
As the charges were read, it was heard that the defendant is alleged to have unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to a named male on July 14, of last year.
On the date, Chambers is accused of threatening to kill the same injured party as well as robbing him of €450, £150 and various bank cards.
It was also outlined that the alleged attempted criminal damage was to gates and doors belonging to the Kilmorey Arms Hotel in Kilkeel.
Appearing via videolink from his solicitor’s office, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Eamonn King said that he was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer.
Chambers was released on continuing bail to appear before Newry Crown Court on November 10.
