A man is in critical condition in hospital having sustained serious injuries prior to a two-vehicle collision in Newry this morning (Monday).
Police have confirmed that a man was taken to hospital following the collision on Monaghan Street shortly before 9.30am.
However, they have confirmed that the injuries were sustained “prior to this collision”.
The spokesperson added that the “damage-only collision” involved two vehicles.
It is understood the patient was taken to the nearby Daisy Hill Hospital for initial assessment.
A spokesperson for the Southern Health Trust said the patient was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast as a result of his injuries.
