Plans to raze Rathfriland Baptist Church and build replacement

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s planners are currently considering plans to demolish Rathfriland Baptist Church.

The application, lodged by David McMaster Architect Ltd on behalf of the Church will, if approved see the current structure on the Loughbrickland Road demolished and replaced with a new building.

The existing Church has, according to the planning application form a net area of 286.34m2.

If the application is approved and the new Church is completed, the usable floorspace will increase to 439.16m2.

At present, there are a total of 240 people who attend the Church on a regular basis . Following the completion of the proposed work it is hoped this number will increase by 10 to 250.

The application was submitted and validated on Monday, January 18. Its neighbour consultation period expires on Friday, February 19 while its standard consultation period expires on Tuesday, February 23.

The advertisement for the planning application will run until Friday, March 5.
