Tributes and messages of support have been pouring in for the family of a young man who died suddenly at his Newry home this week.
Police attended the scene at Springfarm Heights in the city on Monday.
Cahal Lundy was the loving partner of Patrica and devoted father of Alannah and Ollie.
He was also the beloved son of Paul and the late Carmel RIP and much loved brother of Niamh, the late Johnny RIP, Ryan and Aleah.
Mr Lundy’s funeral will leave his home on Friday at 1.30pm for 2.30pm Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary of the Assumption, Drumalane.
Interment afterwards in the cemetery of the Sacred Heart Church, Cloughogue.
Sadly, due to the current government restrictions the house and funeral are private.
Paying tribute was Carnagat Community Association who posted: “We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Cahal Lundy at his sudden passing. We are especially thinking of Cahal’s young children Alannah and Ollie who attend our junior group and activities. May Jesus draw close to them and give them comfort at this very sad time.”
Shane O’Neill’s in Camlough posted: “Everyone at the club would like to offer their sympathy to the family of Cahal Lundy who has passed away. Cahal was the brother of former player and good friend of the club Ryan Lundy. May he rest in peace.”
Camlough Craobh Rua hurling club said: “We express our sincerest sympathies to our senior team hurler and our chara mór Ryan Lundy on the death of his brother Cahal.
“Paul, the late Cahal’s father, his sisters Niamh and Aleah and the Lundy family circle have been a great support to our Club throughout the years and we can assure them and all Cahal’s family that they are in our thoughts and prayers at this tragic time. Le Chéile Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anam.”
Speaking on Monday, Newry and Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins said she, and the entire community, were shocked at the news of the young Newry man’s death.
The MLA said: “I am shocked and saddened at the tragic news of the sudden death of a young man.
“My first thoughts are with the family of the deceased as they try to deal with the sudden loss of a loved one.”
