Police have charged two men, aged 29 and 36, with a number of offences including blackmail, false imprisonment and hijacking.
They are due to appear at Newry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, May 22.
As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
The charges follow an incident outside Kilkeel during the early hours of Friday morning, when men took a driver’s car keys and then assaulted him while he was in the passenger seat of the car.
