A woman has been convicted at Newry Crown Court for fraudulently claiming over £20,000 in benefits.
Amanda Crosby, of Hill Crest, Mayobridge claimed Universal Credit totalling £20,681 whilst failing to declare that she was working outside of Northern Ireland. She was given nine months’ imprisonment suspended for two years.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
The 49-year-old is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongly obtained to the Department.
Meanwhile, a woman has been convicted at Downpatrick Crown Court for fraudulently claiming over £20,000 in benefits.
Emma Jackson (42) of Killybawn Road, Saintfield claimed Universal Credit totalling £20,665 whilst failing to declare capital. She was given six months’ imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
Jackson has repaid all outstanding money wrongly obtained to the Department.
