Police hope teenager’s driving ban will send out clear message to others

Police in Craigavon have welcomed a driving disqualification handed down at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on July 11, when 19-year-old David Aston was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £500 for two counts of dangerous driving.
The offences related to incidents at Moyraverty Meadows on July, 18 last year.
A number of people had reported a car driving dangerously in the area.
Police conducted enquiries and Aston was reported to the PPS and subsequently faced charges.
Constable Gail Davidson, Brownlow Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I would like to thank local residents and witnesses who supported the  police investigation and court case over a lengthy period.
“I hope this sentence sends out a clear message to young drivers that there is no defence for dangerous driving and, if you ignore your own safety and that of other road users, you will find yourself before the courts.
“I also hope it provides some reassurance to the local community that we are committed to making our roads safer for everyone.”
