A fightback against rural crime in Armagh is beginning to pay dividends, with a number of successes at the weekend.
Ten unregistered cows have been seized by police during the operation, which also led to the recovery of stolen farm equipment.
According to the PSNI, four properties in Armagh, Milford and Granemore were searched.
A slurry tanker, an excavator and a device for disabling trackers were seized, along with £5,000 cash.
The 10 cattle were passed to DARD.
“Our investigations are continuing and we will now explore all forensic opportunities,” Area Commander for Armagh, Chief Inspector Joe McMinn, said.
“I would like to thank those in the rural community for their support and ask for their ongoing assistance in reporting all suspicious and unusual activity to us at the earliest opportunity.”
Chief Inspector McMinn added that efforts to tackle rural crime are ongoing.
“We met with members of the rural community recently and reinforced our commitment to tackling this type of crime,” he said.
“These searches are just one strand of our strategy to tackle rural crime and I hope that it provides some reassurance to those in the agricultural community.”
