Police in Armagh are urging motorists to lock their vehicles and be mindful of the security of their vehicles.
This follows two incidents where cars were broken into in the Folly Lane area between Monday, August 25 and Tuesday, August 26.
Inspector Kieran Quinn, Armagh Response and Neighbourhood, explained: “There have been a number of thefts from cars in the local area and we launched an anti-crime operation to target this type of crime at the beginning of August.
“We have been targeting specific areas and contacting the last registered owners of cars which have been left insecure or with valuables on display. The message still does not appear to be getting through. Please do not leave your vehicle unlocked. If your vehicle is unlocked and the car is broken into you may have difficulty in making an insurance claim.
“A few security steps can dramatically reduce your chance of becoming a victim. Lock the doors and close the windows of your car. Remove all valuables. Report any suspicious activity to police immediately.”
Police can be contacted on the 101 non-emergency number or 999 in an emergency.
