A High Street bank that shut its doors in Portadown this summer has relocated its services to premises in Millennium Court.
Barclays bank closed their branch in the town on Friday, July 28 in what came as a further blow to an already diminishing town centre.
It was closed alongside the Bow Street branch in Lisburn, which meant that Barclays customers in Portadown had to travel to Newry, or Belfast, for their in-person banking.
The bank will continue to have a presence in Portadown, operating from the Millennium Court shared space facility on William Street.
The new premises will be open Mondays to Fridays, from 9am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3.30pm.
In a post on Facebook, Portadown Chamber of Commerce said: “Delighted with this news, good to see Barclays Bank maintaining a presence in town.”
Closure of the branch was announced back in April, with the bank citing low footfall and the rise in online banking as reasons for the closure.
According to Barclays, less than 10 customers used the Portadown branch regularly as the only way to do their banking, with 93% of customers using off-site banking methods.
Barclays is just one of a number of recent bank closures in the area as customers move away from traditional banking in branches.
In June, HSBC closed its doors at the branch on Meadow Lane in Portadown, leaving Belfast as the only remaining HSBC branch in Northern Ireland.
In nearby Lurgan, the Halifax bank branch on Market Street is set to close on October 4.
