A councillor has said he felt “embarrassed” by the state of a Co Armagh cemetery when visiting over the weekend.
Independent councillor David Jones attended Seagoe Cemetery in Portadown on Sunday and was saddened by the its condition.
“Yesterday [Sunday] I had occasion to visit Seagoe Municipal Cemetery,” said councillor Jones.
“I must say I was very concerned at its untidy state – grass not cut and weeds growing everywhere.”
He added: “As a councillor and member of the Environmental Services Committee which has control of cemeteries, I felt embarrassed at the untidy nature of Seagoe.
“This morning I have been in contact with Council and have been assured the matter will be attended to directly.”
