Former Dunnes Stores outlet in High Street Mall goes up for sale

The former Dunnes Stores premises in Portadown – which forms part of the High Street Mall – has been put up for sale.

It is now seven months since the shopping centre’s anchor tenant pulled down the shutters for the last time.

It was a huge commercial setback for the Co Armagh town, and it was not to be the only blow for the High Street Mall.

Both Argos and Intersport House of Sport also left the centre last year.

Now it has emerged that the Dunnes site – stretching to around 70,000 sq ft – has been put on the market for sale.

The Belfast-based Frazer Kidd is in charge of marketing the development and overseeing any future sale.

No asking price is being given for what is described as “substantial retail premises”, which benefits from its position in an “extremely visible and accessible location opposite Portadown Train Station and the A3 Northway”.

It is to be found in what has been described as an “extremely popular town centre development”.

The property – with neighbours including The Works, Home Bargains, Blue Inc and Superdrug – consists of a substantial ground floor sales area and two large stock rooms at basement level, served by way of two goods lifts.

The first floor includes a staff canteen, training room and toilet provision.

According to Frazer Kidd, the store would be “suitable for a variety of uses”, subject to the statutory planning consents being given.
